Lost in Translation

So we may have had difficulty communicating but the baby entertained us enough to keep us all laughing hysterically over our lunch. Vida and her sister chose a Texas Roadhouse grill- we weren't sure if it was their best choice or if they were trying to please us ;) we sat inside and Brian and I discovered this bar had a variety of American baseball hats, jerseys an other random paraphenalia. We asked the girls if they'd ever heard of the Phillies but they hadn't...they did happen to have a blue Phillies hat nailed above the bar. We ordered a round of beers, tonos, and toasted- the baby insisted on getting her bottle and toasting with us...she got quite a kick out of this so kept doing it over and over again saying 'ching, ching'! Then she stole her Aunt Vida's sunglasses and tried them on upside down. She was funny- absolutely refused to sit in the highchair the server brought over...and insisted on trying to feed her mother which resulted in a bit of a mess on her lap! The girls seemed genuinely concerned about us attempting to travel the rest of the way by ourselves- moreso because we were inevitably going to get taken advantage of- financially. We appreciated their concern but also realized we couldn't have them escort us all through the country either! We paid for lunch and headed out onto the cobblestone path lined with open air restaurants...the baby didn't notice that I was the one who grabbed her hand...I scooped her up and she realized who was carrying her...she seemed ok at first...then we teased her and pretended she was coming with us :) 'bye bye mommy'...thats's when she got nervous and started squirming...stretched her arms out for her mom. We all laughed, I passed her back, we all hugged and said our goodbyes...In our broken Spanglish :) Brian and I headed back towards the square...we were now on our own...
